Why coat your molds with anything but the best refractory coating possible?
Waterborne core and mold coatings produced in an array of refractory minerals, depending on the application and casting type. These products can be torch, air or oven dried, each drying process yielding the same end result.
Core and mold coatings incorporating alcohol or solvent blends as the carrier. REFCOHOL coatings may be air dried or lit-off. Our REFCOTEC refractory blends are engineered to withstand even the most severe casting applications.
Waterborne coatings for use in the lost foam and full mold casting processes. These products are formulated in a variety of refractory blends to handle an assortment of casting sizes and metal types.

A refractory coating is a high temperature paint containing ground minerals that create a barrier to molten metal.
A rapid method of coating application. This can be done by siphon, airless, or low pressure atomization equipment. This method is the least effective in preventing metal penetration.
Brushing is application of refractory coating using conventional paint brushes. It is slow but provides a more complete and resistant coating layer than spraying. Brushing is often used in conjunction with spraying in areas of the core or mold that are most prone to metal penetration.
A method of mopping coating onto sand surfaces. Swabbing can reach into deep cavities and recesses, where it may be difficult to brush or spray. This method is faster and more effective than brushing and also more effective than spraying.
A method of applying refractory coating by using a low pressure fluid stream to flood the sand surface. Flow Coating combines the speed of spraying with the thoroughness and uniformity of dripping. This is a VERY effective method of coating molds.
This method requires submerging either a portion, or an entire core into the coating. Dipping is the most effective method because the coating impregnates the entire core or mold surface.
